A good question I suppose. Well, there were several present on Thursday 6th February 2025 at the Masonic Hall Thorne. Certainly, Bro. John Noel Cram who was Advanced in a brilliant ceremony was a jolly good fellow for joining Thorne and our order. The W.M. W.Bro. Paul Crow was a jolly good fellow for leading his team. The team were all jolly good fellows for performing a first class ceremony. The officers of the West Yorkshire Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No.2018 were all jolly good fellows being out and about again supporting our Deputy Provincial Grand Master by forming the escort.

Then of course there was R.W.Bro. Alan Oldfield who was on his penultimate visit before retiring as Deputy Provincial Grand Master at the end of this month after over twenty years of dedicated service in various senior roles in our Province. Perhaps he was the favourite to take the title ‘Jolly Good Fellow’ as at the end of the evening a spontaneous chorus was sung declaring that fact followed by three cheers. But as Alan had said earlier the night really wasn’t about him, it was about the candidate John who had joined Thorne and our wonderful order.

Much praise was placed on Thorne by Alan and others for a brilliant ceremony with plenty of theatre and not a book to be seen. Plenty was said about John as well. John only joined Freemasonry two years ago and had brought with him good ritual and floor work. He is certainly a worthy person to be made a Mason. His charity work and help in the community is endless and as W.Bro. Matthew Dunstan the I.P.M. said it’s in his D.N.A. to be such a person. John responded saying it was an honour to be accepted and was looking forward to the next step in his Masonic Journey.

Welcome Bro. John Noel Cram Mark Master Mason.
