The Success of The Porphyry Stone
A fantastic night at Hipperholme Lodge of RAM No.715 not only saw an escorted visit by W.Bro. Andrew Brown Deputy Provincial Grand Master and a team of acting officers of the year but, eight members of Claro Lodge of RAM No. 52 bringing the traveling porphyry and, the elevation of Bro. Harry David Clough into the order.
A brilliant night of ritual and fun together with fabulous information of the porphyry stone provided by the commander of Claro W.Bro. John Nicholls – a great entertainer as many will know.
Harry really did enjoy the ceremony which was done in style despite their knocks and salutations being different. It certainly confused the provincial team……

The night was tinged with some sadness and reference rightly made to those special people in our order – The Pro Grand Master M.W. Bro. John Herbert Prizeman, R.W.Bro. Alan Oldfield and, R.W.Bro. Brian Morris Batty who had all recently passed to the grand lodge above. It didn’t and shouldn’t spoil a thoroughly good night and all three of those Brethren would have been disappointed if it had.
W.Bro. Stephen Turner spoke of the enthusiasm of Harry and what an asset to Hipperholme he would be. In response Harry said he would do his best to be a valuable member of Hipperholme but, expressed a little disappointment at the fact that he had not been able to use this rubber ring, water wings and a towel he had been advised to bring along with him! These he said were safely in his case and remained unused.

John Nicholls in the visitor’s response spoke of mality, mality and more mality being so much better than perhaps formality. He spoke of a Lodge without a postcode, the difficulty in finding it and eventually being guided by wonderful aromas coming from the kitchen and perhaps John not quite out of the Christmas spirit was helped by a local telling him ‘Its Behind You!’
A fantastic night with over forty present showing just how successful the recent initiative regards the travelling porphyry stone is.

Welcome aboard Bro. Harry David Clough newest Royal Ark Mariner in our province. We look forward to seeing you around the province.
