Ridings Challenge Golf Match 2025 — Fellowship and Friendly Rivalry at Its Finest

The annual Ridings Challenge Golf Match between the Mark Master Masons of the Provinces of West Yorkshire and North & East Yorkshire took place on Tuesday 14th October 2025, at the beautiful Bingley St. Ives Golf Club in West Yorkshire.

This long-standing fixture, first played in 1993, has become a much-anticipated date in the calendar for both fantastic Provinces, with hosting duties alternating each year between North & East Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. The 2025 match saw West Yorkshire proudly hosting this year’s contest.

Twelve players from each Province took to the fairways under fine autumn skies, with the course in excellent condition—ideal for good golf and even better company. The spirit of friendly rivalry shone through every match, with plenty of skill, sportsmanship, and laughter shared throughout the day.

After keenly contested games, West Yorkshire emerged victorious, securing back-to-back wins with a 4–2 result. The afternoon concluded in true Masonic fashion with a hearty meal, lively banter, and the warm camaraderie that defines this special event.

The Ridings Challenge Trophy was presented to the home team by the R.W. Bro. J. Trevor Bolton the Provincial Grand Master of West Yorkshire who congratulated both teams on their fine play and the spirit of fellowship that continues to make this annual match such a success.

As is tradition the runners up were presented with a consolation prize which on this occasion was a bottle of single malt and was received by V.W.Bro. Paul Barham the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of North & East Yorkshire.

As the day ended, both Provinces expressed their appreciation for another memorable occasion filled with good golf, great friendship, and the true fraternal bond that unites Mark Master Masons. Here’s to many more years of the Ridings Challenge Match—and to the fellowship that makes it so special.

The real winner of course as it is every year was Mark Masonry.
