Halifax Lodge of MMM No. 706. Thursday 5th December 2024

A good number of Mark Masons travelled through the wind, rain and a very blustery Halifax to Southwood Masonic Hall. Good support from the Huddersfield, Halifax and District Installed Masters Association with several members present.

In attendance was The R.W. Provincial Grand Master J. Trevor Bolton accompanied by W.Bro. Robert Barton Prov.A.G.D.C. and, a number of members of the West Yorkshire Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge No.2018.

The W.M. W.Bro. David Pilgrim is enthusiastic about his Mark Masonry and has always put the effort into helping the Lodge increase the membership during his 2 years as master. This being his second advancement during that time. The presence of Trevor, together with an escort of both Grand and Provincial officers, always making for a better experience for the candidate, that being W.Bro. Gordon McMurdo of Mexborough Craft Lodge.

The ceremony was completed in a sincere and enthusiastic manner. It was the first for Bro.’s Issac Colvin and Alan Spencer since taking the officers of Inner Guard and Junior Deacon respectively. It was also encouraging to see Bro. Joseph McNamee progressing up the ranks as Senior Overseer. The future of the Lodge is certainly looking brighter and even more with now Bro. Gordon McMurdo, a member of the Lodge.

Trevor presented Issac with his Mark Grand Lodge Certificate. And well presented it was too, Trevor only knowing of the presentation as he was ambushed entering the building!

A lovely Festive board. Trevor congratulated David and his officers on a fine ceremony and an enjoyable evening. He welcomed Gordon to the Mark assuring him he had joined a fine Lodge and, that he looked forward to his progress with interest.

Thank you, Halifax, for a wonderful night.

With thanks to

W. Bro John M. Fitzpatrick
