The Brethren of Pontefract Mark Lodge welcomed their newest member on the evening of Thursday 22nd May 2025.
W.M. W.Bro. Gary Waddington opened proceedings and on answering a report welcomed The Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. J. Trevor Bolton escorted by Provincial Officers. After a ballot for yet another member (well done!) W.Bro. Ian Robertson took over the proceedings to Advance Ian McAleese, a Master Mason of De Lacy Lodge 4643.
W.Bro. Robertson looked as if he’d never been out of the Chair, no books or notes, just an odd prompt here and there, an example to us all. With a guest appearance from Aireferry’s W.Bro. Matthew Brelsford as an excellent Senior Deacon and a lovely delivery of the secrets by W.Bro. Martin Millward, all the supporting officers played their part very well with some fine ritual from all concerned.
After D.C. W.Bro. David Whitelaw directed greetings to the Worshipful Master, the Provincial Grand Master retired with his escort and our newly advanced brother.
A well supported meeting with just over 30 attending made for a great atmosphere in both the Lodge and an excellent Festive Board. Newly advanced Bro. Ian McAleese said he’d thoroughly enjoyed the Ceremony and had already detected that special Mark camaraderie.
A very good night all round and especially for Pontefract Mark No. 878. With more candidates to come, things are definitely looking up!
