Portal of Eastgate, Barnsley were the hosts on Wednesday 26th February 2025 to receive R.W.Bro. J. Trevor Bolton the Prov.G.M. and, a delegation of RAM of the year.
It was a super night with Bro. Ian Schofield a joining member, Old York T.I. bringing the traveling Porphyry Stone and, an Elevation. W.Bro. Ivan Barry Walker the W.M. of Portal Mark No.127 the candidate.
W.Bro. Jim Stanley W.C.N. of the Carl Whitehead Lodge No.110 was also present to ensure the Porphyry Stone was kept safe. Rumour has it the stone had previously been ‘lost’. Not so sure how true this is as it always turned up at the twice-yearly meeting of the Carl Whitehead Lodge. Perhaps Jim was just making sure?!
A super ceremony for which Portal can be justly proud. Bro. Alan Bartrop, W.Bro. Charles Lindsay and W.Bro. Raymond Hooley doing some super ritual and led by the W.C.N. W.Bro. Christopher Beaumont. All under the watchful eye of W.Bro. Ian Yates. Congratulations Portal, always a more meaningful ceremony for the candidate without books on show.
It was a very busy Lodge with lots of visitors. The initiative to have a delegation to Escort the stone around the Province is certainly working bringing colour and fun to the meeting.
A brilliant festive board with great company. Good things said about Ivan and what he would bring to Portal RAM and the order in general.
