On hand to see W.Bro. Nigel R. Atkins proclaimed W.M. of Worth Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.727 and stay in the chair for a further year was the Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. J. Trevor Bolton and W.Bro. Chris Oldfield. It was a simple enough ceremony and well run by the Lodge D.C. W.Bro. Terry Gatherum.
A very cold and snowy night but the welcome at Worth as warm as ever. It’s a really happy and easy-going Lodge who take their work seriously and have fun at the same time. But of course, they would with V.W.Bro. Keith Hardwick Trott still ‘in charge’ and being a great influence on all at Worth. You have to feel a little sorry for their poor secretary our current Prov.G.S.W. W.Bro. William R. Light who deals with Keith’s wicked sense of humour in a specific way and, always with a grin on his face. Keith and Billy are in fact great friends although, Billy will tell you Keith will only go out for breakfast or come to Sunday Lunch if he knows Billys good lady is to be there.
They say you just don’t get characters like ‘Whispering Keith’ anymore but of course you do. We are all characters in the making and a good job too. If you can’t go and have fun at a Mark meeting, then why go. Yes, we all take it seriously and like to see good ritual with things done correctly but, enjoyment is certainly a major part of it for all.
The speeches were short and sweet and allowed the Brethren to venture out in good time to make their way home on a very cold, icy and snowy night without the need for tractors, husky dogs and sleds or, even the need for St. Bernard Dogs with Brandy to find any poor and distressed Mark Master Masons lost or stuck in the snow.
A super night. Thank you, Worth Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.727.
