W.Bro. Gary Waddington W.M. of Pontefract Lodge of M.M.M. No.878

A fantastic night at Pontefract Masonic Hall on Thursday 27th March 2025 saw Gary Installed as W.M.  The Installing Master W.Bro. Ian Robertson doing a superb job.  Ian has had a busy year with four candidates filling in for the W.M. W.Bro. Geoff Pearce who has had a difficult year health wise but is now on the mend and was present to see such a good ceremony.

It was perhaps fitting that representing the R.W.Prov.G.M. was W.Bro. Matthew Brelsford Prov. G.S.O. who has for most of the year acted as S.D. for Pontefract of which he has been delighted to do so.  On duty for the charity committee was W.Bro. Alex Geddes and the Prov. A.G.D.C. for the night was W.Bro. Ian Schofield.

It really was a great ceremony and was followed by an equally great Festive Board.

Matthew spoke of all the wonderful things the Province was doing and of a bright future for all.  He also presented the Lodge with a Mallet and Chisel as during the past year they seemed to be short of a set.  In any case it would save the poor D.C. running up and down the lodge to place the working tools in the correct place for certain parts of the meeting.  It really was Matthew saying thank you so much to a great Lodge and for allowing him to be part of their successful year.

Geoff now I.P.M. spoke of his love of Pontefract Lodge and how grateful he was for all the support he had received over the last year.  Going on to say that now he was on the mend he was very much looking forward to being involved again and, getting out and about again on his bike.  His wife he said was certainly looking forward to him getting out and about again…!

In responding to the visitor’s toast W.Bro. Aidan Wells W.M. of Legiolium Lodge of M.M.M. No. 457 thanked Pontefract for a wonderful evening and told us about Port and the fact that perhaps all M.M.M. are Cracked Pots…!  Want to know more? Then why not visit Legiolium at their next meeting on Wednesday 28th May 2025 and ask Aidan about Port and Cracked Pots!

Thankyou Pontefract for a super evening.  We wish you much success for the coming year and the three further candidates you have coming through.  It’s going to be a busy year for either Gary, Geoff or perhaps ‘Uncle’ Ian.  Or maybe a combination of all three.  Either way its guaranteed to be a great year.
