W.Bro. Mark Chafer now the Worshipful Master of Thorne Lodge of Mark Master Masons No. 1004

A super night Thursday 6th March 2025 at Thorne Masonic Hall saw Mark installed in fine style by W.Bro. Paul Crow.  It was also V.W.Bro. Philip Oldfields first outing in his new role as Assistant Provincial Grand Master.  Alongside Philip was W.Bro. Alex Geddes Elected Representative of the Charity Committee and, W.Bro. Mark Holland, the Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies.

It was a very good ceremony indeed.  Ritual at Thorne is key for them.  At their last   meeting an advancement took place, and that ceremony was first class.  This ceremony matched it and as was said at their last meeting a good ceremony really does make a difference to the candidate and the same applied to Mark who was taking the Mark chair for his first time.

Adding to Thornes growing numbers once in the chair Mark had no hesitation in proposing his son Nial as a candidate for Advancement.

At the Festive board Philip talked about signing up to our Facebook page and making use of our website.  There is some great information on their not least the short video ‘The Magic of the Mark’, which is a great tool when trying to attract new members.   He also talked about our forthcoming Provincial meeting in Bradford on Saturday 12th of April 2025.  It is always a special occasion, and this year will be no exception.

Alex spoke of the great work our charity does and the difference it makes.  Please look to support our charity the Cleeves and Whitehead Trust in any way you can.

Congratulations Thorne on a fantastic evening and, as Paul said to Mark in his closing words of congratulations simply passed him the keys to the building with the words ‘and these complete your installation ceremony!’

With thanks to

W. Bro John M. Fitzpatrick
