Monday 12th February 2024. A happy band of Mark Master Masons attended the Brighouse Masonic Hall to see Bro. John G. Pearson installed as the Worshipful Master. Twenty nine visitors were present, making a total of over 40 Brethren. Fantastic support for the lodge. It was great to see so many Brethren from both the Huddersfield, Halifax and District I.M.A. and from the Bradford and District I.M.A., showing the importance of all our I.M.A’s.
5:29 p.m. and as is custom for W.Bro. Marios Adamou he entered the Lodge to loud cheers for a 5:30 p.m. start, just in time to take his place as senior overseer. The W.M. W.Bro. Steve Spooner welcomed all saying it was especially good to see R.W.Bro. Brian Morris Batty with them.
On duty for the Province were W.Bro. Andrew James Brown Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro. Chris Oldfield the Elected Representative of the Charity Committee and, W.Bro. Edward Wilkinson Prov. A.G.D.C.
Andrew was offered the gavel and thanked Steve for the courtesy saying that although he was told he was a decent ritualist, installation ritual was not one of his skills and swiftly passed the gavel back! Various salutations were then given including of course R.W.Bro. Brian Morris Batty, the Worshipful Master of The Grand Stewards Lodge. Edward giving the nod to each when it was their turn. W.Bro. Stephen Newton Wood seemed to get the nod and stood but, in fact it was the term of Chris Oldfield, a wry smile across all three faces, who was to blame? Surely not the Prov. A.G.D.C.!
A super ceremony then took place with a little help from the visitors. W. Bros. Bev Haywood, Keith Watson and Edward Wilkinson all contributing in fine style to the various addresses. Showing yet again how all Mark Masons are happy to help at any time – just brilliant.
A great Festive board. Good company, good food with the respective and informative toasts given. Andrew congratulated the now W.Bro. John G. Pearson on becoming Master, going on to outline what is going on around the Province and, an update on our forth coming Provincial meeting on Saturday 6th of April. He then congratulated Marios who will be appointed at that meeting as Provincial Grand Steward, thoroughly deserved. He gave an update on our Deputy Provincial Grand Master V.W.Bro. Alan Oldfield who was aiming to attend that meeting. Going on to say although he wasn’t actively visiting at present, he was working very hard in the back ground for us all and would welcome any calls or texts from Brethren but that he did like a little rest and time out between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Steve presented a cheque from the Lodge to Chris who thanked the Brethren on behalf of the Charity Committee for their generosity and, went on to talk about the important work they do.
A great evening of Mark Masonry enjoyed by all present.
With thanks to
