On a sunny Saturday 10th May 2025, members and visitors gathered to see the Installation of W.Bro. Mark Kenyon at Westbourne House, Otley.

Practice done and nerves out of the way saw the Worshipful Commander W.Bro. Jim Stanley do a super job in installing Mark as his successor. There was plenty of colour too with a plethora of Rulers and Past Rulers present including our Provincial Grand Master R.W.Bro. J. Trevor Bolton. The ritual was great but of course with such class present it would be hard not to hear such good ritual. Past rulers and others all playing their part in a fine ceremony.

Good news for the Lodge with 4 joining members and propositions for at least 2 more for the next meeting in October. The lodge currently has over 150 members which beats the maximum break of 147 in snooker and, with the new members to come could then beat 155 which, can be achieved in snooker if the opponent commits a foul early in the frame and a player is awarded a free ball. Looks like 180 the maximum score in darts is the next target! Apologies, I digress, where is this article going! It’s amazing where the mind wonders to eh……

A wonderful Festive Board with wonderful company. Mark and Jim who have been great friends well over 20 years paid many fantastic compliments to each other with words used such as grafter and, aplomb. There was even a reference to ‘House on Fire’ and ‘Pot Black’ but, I cannot remember where that came in. Perhaps that’s when my mind had wandered and came up with 147, 155 and 180 or, was it seeing W.Bro. Roger Quick in Lodge that reminded me of the clever usage of numbers he uses in his orations….

The Carl Whitehead Lodge of Royal Ark Mariner No.110 looks forward to seeing as many RAM Brethren whether members or visitors at its next meeting Saturday 4th October 2025 when it will host the Provincial RAM Assembly/Investiture at Tapton Hall, Sheffield.
